Cardiff Sports Orthopaedics to continue delivering medical excellence at Pooler

Monday 29th August 2016

PONTYPOOL, South Wales, 30th August 2016 – Pontypool RFC is pleased to announce that Cardiff Sports Orthopaedics has extended its medical and commercial relationship with the club for the 2016/17 WRU National Championship campaign.

The partnership of consultant orthopaedic surgeons will continue to provide its expert medical direction to the club whilst the Cardiff Sports Orthopaedics brand will feature on the famous red, white and black Pooler shirt for the seventh consecutive season.

Cardiff Sports Orthopaedics’ managing partner, Mr Angus Robertson, has been an essential contributor to Pontypool RFC’s drive to obtain and retain the much-coveted Welsh Rugby Union A Licence since his appointment as the club’s medical director in 2013.

On his continuing involvement with Pooler, he said: "Cardiff Sports Orthopaedics is delighted to renew its commitment to Pontypool RFC. We feel that Pontypool RFC embody the values and attitudes that should be the backbone of any great organisation.

“We are proud to have provided medical services to the club for a number of years and are pleased to have the opportunity to continue this association.

“We are confident that under the new rugby management team headed up by Leighton Jones, the club will continue to go from strength-to-strength in its ambition to reach the Principality Premiership division.”

Pontypool RFC chief executive officer, Ben Jeffreys, said: “We are immensely thankful for the unwavering commitment that Cardiff Sports Orthopaedics has made to the club, both from a commercial and medical perspective.

“Without the contributions made by Angus in particular, Pontypool RFC could simply not operate. His integrity and genuine interest in the welfare of our players, staff and volunteers has earned him the respect of the Welsh rugby community and he has established himself as a trusted member of our management team.

“Together with our wider medical staff, Angus provides a reassurance to our team that is simply irreplaceable and we are proud to call him a part of our rugby family.”

Pontypool RFC wishes to express its sincerest thanks to Cardiff Sports Orthopaedics for its continued support of the club.
