Draw for 2018-2019 Pontypool RFC Cup made

PONTYPOOL, South Wales, 17th September 2018 - The draw for the 2018-2019 edition of the Pontypool RFC Cup has been made, with excitement now set to build ahead of the first round of fixtures.

The main competition involves Gwent high schools playing each other home and away in the group stage before being split into cup, plate and bowl competitions. The finals will be held at Pontypool Park next year.

Pontypool RFC's Community Outreach Coordinator, Tony Clarke, is looking forward to the second year of the competition after a highly successful first year launch.

"Everyone is looking forward to what should be another brilliant year of competition,” he said. “The Year 8 teams set a high standard last season and to have the Year 7 and Year 9 teams join the competition is exciting.

"We are still working hard to improve and expand the initiative and as a club we are incredibly proud of the fact that we are providing so many youngsters with a platform on which to display their undoubted potential," said Clarke.

The draw for the 2018-2019 Pontypool RFC is as follows:

Year 7: Group A - Cwmbran High School, Ysgol Gwynllyw, West Mon School.

Group B - St Albans School, Croesyceiliog School, Abersychan School.

Year 8: Group A - Ysgol Gwynllyw, Cwmbran High School.

Group B-Croesyceiliog School, West Mon School, Abersychan School.

Year 9: Group A - St Albans School, Abersychan School, West Mon School

Group B - Cwmbran High School, Ysgol Gwynllyw, Croesyceiliog School.

The dates of the opening fixtures have yet to be confirmed, but details will follow when available.
