Pontypool RFC submits full planning application to Torfaen County Borough Council

Friday 15th February 2019

Pontypool RFC is pleased to confirm that the club has submitted a full planning application to Torfaen County Borough Council in respect of plans to make wholesale improvements to Pontypool Park – its historic home of over 70 years.

We have been overwhelmed by the level of support the club has received from both supporters and wider community interests following the decision to halt plans to leave Pontypool Park was announced in January.

Pontypool RFC remains committed to executing the new strategy that we launched alongside Torfaen County Borough Council in January and the planning application is a key component to securing the club’s long-term future at Pontypool Park.

The club’s management team have held positive discussions with various park users and are committed to engaging in constructive dialogue with the local authority when the consultation and planning process evolves further.

The planning application demonstrates our desire to make Pontypool Park a premier sporting venue for the whole community to enjoy and it is our hope that we can bring about much needed improvements to the ground, but this can only be achieved if the plans are approved.

Supporters are once again encouraged to back Pontypool RFC’s plans by submitting a message of support to Torfaen County Borough Council via its public consultation into the proposals relating to Pontypool Park. For details on how to submit your message of support, please click here.
