#PoolerArmy - have your say on ending ring-fencing of the Principality Premiership division

Monday 13th November 2017

Dear Pontypool RFC supporter,

The Welsh Rugby Union (“WRU”) is conducting a review of its performance competition structure for adult male rugby (below regional rugby including premiership and championship) and is seeking the input of its key stakeholders.

The purpose of the review is as follows:

·To inform a ‘future’ competition structure that supports the performance pathway for players within the adult male game

·To identify the ‘pathway' required to support player development plus coach / referee development and support staff to national level

·To understand the barriers to performance, participation and development that exist within the current competition structure, and

·To support the financially sustainability of the premiership and championship.

The WRU has appointed independent consultants to conduct the review, and Pontypool RFC has been invited to a consultation with fellow National Championship clubs during the month of November, where the club will have the opportunity to make its case for having the opportunity to earn promotion to the Principality Premiership if the club wins the 2018-2019 National Championship title.

Ben Jeffreys (chief executive officer), Jamie Hallam (secretary) and Leighton Jones (head coach) will be attending the consultation evening to represent the club's interests.

As part of the review, the WRU is inviting club rugby supporters to complete a short survey and aims to utilise your feedback to help inform the future structure of Welsh club rugby.

Pontypool RFC, alongside with the Welsh Rugby Union, would be grateful if you would open the link and answer the questions on the survey below:

There is no better opportunity for the #PoolerArmy to have its say on why ring-fencing of the Principality Premiership must come to an end at the end of the 2018-2019 and Pontypool RFC kindly urges you to complete the survey in full.

Thank you for your continued support and the club will ensure to provide a full update on the consultation process as it develops further.
