Extensive renovations to Pontypool Park commences

Pontypool RFC is pleased to announce that major renovations to the facilities at Pontypool Parkin preparation for the 2013/2014 season have commenced.

Funded by Medinet, Pontypool RFC’s primary corporate partner and project managed by Oakley Construction, the £16,000 improvements will comprise of; improved hospitality and catering amenities, state of the art medical facilities and new changing rooms. Completing the works will be the introduction of a modernised décor throughout the building, themed on the famous Pontypool RFC red, white and black hoops.

Pontypool RFC is also in final negotiations with Torfaen Council regarding the development of a dedicated club shop that will be operated by Rugby Heaven, stocking all 2013/2014 club merchandise.

There is now real tangibility attached to our new vision and we hope that the finished product will offer a fresh environment for both fans and corporate partners to enjoy the Pontypool RFC experience.”

Lynne Neagle, Welsh Assembly Member for Torfaen, who struck the first hammer to commence the start of the renovations said: "It was an honour to be asked to formally kick-off the renovation work at Pontypool Park, and I'm really looking forward to seeing the work completed in September. Truly part of the lifeblood of this town, Pontypool RFC is a team rich in history and tradition. I believe that the renaissance now taking place at the club will provide a massive boost for the wider regeneration of Pontypool that's underway"

It is expected that the renovations will be completed in time for Pontypool RFC’s first home fixture of the 2013/2014 SWALEC Championship season against Bridgend Athletic RFC that will be played on Saturday September 14th.
