Good afternoon to the Pooler Army,
I hope that you are well and remain in good health during these unsettling times.
I continue to be mindful that we are yet to make any substantial announcements regarding how the club is progressing with plans to prepare for an eventual return to rugby, hopefully in the not too distant future.
It is now known that the Welsh Rugby Union are provisionally preparing for rugby operations to resume somewhere between October 2020 and January 2021.
Unfortunately, the finer details of this remain very much unknown at this stage and it has been clearly communicated to us by the governing body that these timescales will shift further into the distance, should the pandemic begin to intensify during the winter months.
In light of the fact that a formal return to rugby operations remains unknown, we have taken the decision to not resume any form of team training at this time.
The safety of our staff, squad members and volunteers remains our foremost priority and this is what has driven our decision to keep things dormant for the time being.
Notwithstanding that, we have continued to make preparations for ‘next season’ and it is my hope that we can begin sharing some very exciting news with you within the next three weeks.
Rest assured, we have retained the core of our management and squad and we have made several astute signings that will give us every opportunity to achieve our long-held ambition of gaining promotion to the Indigo Premiership division. We are more determined than ever before to ensure Pontypool RFC has a strong and successful future.
I would once again like to take this opportunity to thank you for your unwavering support in recent months. You have been incredibly patient with us and I fully understand that some positive news will offer a much needed morale boost during this time.
We look forward to sharing our progress with you very shortly.
Until then, please continue to take care and thank you again for your commitment to Pontypool RFC.
