Teenager Dylan Kelleher-Griffiths has joined Pontypool RFC for the upcoming season from Dragons RFC.
The young prop featured twice for Pooler last season, although one of those appearances was in the abandoned fixture at Ystalyfera RFC.
However, he made a big impression and the club has worked hard to bring him in with the coaches excited about his future development.
He also spent time at WRU Admiral National Championship rivals Cross Keys RFC last season and even earned Premiership experience, helping Newport RFC to a 53-31 victory over Merthyr RFC.
He was also recently invited to the Welsh Crawshays RFC squad for their tour of Beziers last month alongside Sam Scarfe and fellow new recruit Tom Piper while other previous clubs include St Joseph’s RFC and St Peter’s RFC.
The loose-head will be looking to learn from the experienced members of the front row, alongside fellow teenage front rower Scarfe.
His previous appearances have left a positive impression with the 19-year-old looking forward to joining on a permanent basis.
He said: “Having played twice for Pontypool, I was impressed by the standard they were playing at.
“I’m excited to see what the future holds.”
Lewis Roberts, Rugby Operations Manager, is looking forward to seeing how Kelleher-Griffiths develops over the coming season.
He said: “It is fantastic that Dylan will be playing at Pontypool this season.
“Although new to the position having moved from the back row, Dylan’s dedication and commitment to learn is excellent and the opportunity to now play with experienced players such as Darren Hughes and Peter Lloyd will be a huge benefit for his development.”
