Pontypool RFC is pleased to announce the return of experienced back row Callum Davies from WRU Admiral National Championship rivals Bargoed RFC.
The 28-year-old is no stranger at Pontypool Park having made 28 appearances between 2016-2018, helping the club win back-to-back league titles.
The flanker then made the switch to the Bulls, who were then in the Indigo Premiership, and has impressed at Bargoed Park – including on our trip there back in April.
“It was difficult to lose him to Bargoed a few years ago but we understood his reasons and wished him well,” explained coach Andrew Quick.
“It’s great to welcome Callum back to Pontypool RFC.
“Callum will add real value to the group both on and off the field.
“He has a great attitude, work rate and skill set that will be massively beneficial to the team.”
Davies has also spent time at Abertillery RFC – playing alongside backs coach Shaun Connor – and Blaenavon RFC but is happy to be returning to his hometown club.
“It’s a good feeling to be back on my home ground,” he said.
“Being a Pontypool boy it means a lot to be able to say I play rugby for them.
“The last few seasons at Bargoed have been great but the opportunity for me to play for Pontypool was one I couldn’t turn away.
“I am looking forward to putting on the Pooler jersey and excited to see where this season takes us.”
