Wednesday 10th April 2013

Pontypool RFC is pleased to announce that Ben Jeffreys has been appointed to the club’s board of directors as Corporate Director with immediate effect.

“The addition of a Corporate Director to our management team is another major step towards making Pontypool RFC a robust and professionally operated club,” said Dave Watt, Director of Pontypool RFC. “Ben has some exciting ideas and we are all very enthusiastic about the projects that will now be put in place at the club.”

Jeffreys, 24, currently acts as Managing Director of Mallard Marketing Management Ltd, a privately held company based in Newport, South Wales, providing marketing services to organisations within the United Kingdom.

“I am honoured to be joining Pontypool RFC. The club has been a part of my family for over sixty years, so the opportunity to be involved in the resurgence of Pontypool RFC is of great personal significance to me,” Jeffreys said. “I intend to work alongside the board of directors, staff and fans with the intention of transforming how the club is operated. There are big ambitions in every department of Pontypool RFC and I am looking forward to assisting in the developing of this great club.”

Jeffreys will be responsible for implementing a strategy that will develop the Pontypool RFC brand, enhance corporate partnerships, improve the fan experience and organise the internal structure of the club. Jeffreys will also oversee the club’s public relations strategy.

The announcement of a Corporate Director represents a comprehensive redevelopment of Pontypool RFC. The objective is to introduce fundamental business practices that will enable the club to operate professionally and self-sufficiently.

“Processes, professionalism and sustainability are the focal points of our vision and culture as we move forward in ensuring Pontypool RFC retains its place as one of the most cherished brands in world rugby. Everybody at the club is driven by the ambition to reward the fans for their incredible loyalty and we hope that today’s announcement will act as a catalyst for a new Pontypool RFC,” said Jeffreys.

The club expects to make a further announcement regarding merchandising later today.
