There is so much brilliant work carried out in clubs Mini & Junior sections across Wales with this being evident at so many clubs around us - The recent success Pontypool United have had across their M&J’s has to be right up there!! Last year saw 5 of their teams (U13’s, U14’s, U15’s, U16’s and Youth) reach finals of The Dragons Cup, a phenomenal achievement.
There are quite a few familiar faces involved in the Senior set up at Conway Road and there’s plenty of United alumni currently wearing the Pooler jersey. New captain, Mikey Herbert, is a fine example having played all of his early rugby at Pontypool United from U6’s onwards.
Everybody involved should be very proud of their achievements and high standards that have been set.
Super Rygbi Cymru aims to give a real platform for player development into the Pro game and we’re delighted that the next crop of youngsters from Pontypool United have signed up for its inaugural season.
Buster Bodkin, Will Gregory, Callum Oliver & Ieuan Rowlands join us for this season with the former 3 all making impressive debuts for Pooler towards the end of last season - all aim to kick on this season in the Pooler jersey.
