Today sees the first game of the 24/25 season with us travelling to the excellent facilities at Shaftesbury Park for fixtures against Dings Crusaders & Old Redcliffians.
We caught up with new Captain, Mikey Herbert, who says the boys can't wait to get started: 'Pre-season has been great for us so far. The lads have put in a lot of work on and off the field and we've been pushing ourselves physically and mentally. The coaching team have been brilliant in getting us prepared and have introduced lots of new things to keep us on our toes and there's a real buzz around the camp'
'The new boys seem to have slotted in brilliantly. They've brought some high energy and that's really meant the rest of us have had to up our game even more and straight away they have embraced the culture we have at Pooler. There's a really good balanced blend of exciting youngsters and more experienced heads'
Looking forward to the games on Saturday Mikey added: 'The game's are all about putting the work we've been doing in training onto the pitch. At this stage we're just looking to build on all areas of our game. Whilst the wins are always good it's just as important for us to ensure we're developing against the areas we've been working on in training'
Reflecting on the captaincy Mikey said: 'I'm really enjoying the challenge and it's definitely a privilege and an honour to lead such a talented group of players. All the boys and coaches have been hugely supportive but our leadership group is way more than just me. I'm really excited about the potential we have as a group and can't wait to get started!'
