Ben Williams signs

We’re pleased to announce Ben Williams as our next signing.

The dynamic back-row forward joins for the 2026/27 campaign having represented Scarlets since 2022. Ben is from Gilfach Goch and came through the ranks at Gilfach Goch RFC before representing Aberavon & Llanelli in the Welsh Premiership along with international age grade honours prior to his move to Parc y Scarlets.

On his joining Tom Hancock said ‘Ben will add real pace, athletcisim and work rate to our back row and will compliment what we already have very well. He will bring National Age Grade and professional playing experience with him and at 23 he is the perfect age to add huge value immediately, and I expect him to hit the ground running’

Ben explained how his move to Pontypool Park came about ‘I remember struggling to think about what move to make for the upcoming season then one day I was in the gym with my old man and Chief rang him. Straight away, in that strong Kiwi accent, he goes, ‘Gachie… what’s your boy doing next year?’ And honestly, from that moment, I pretty much knew exactly where I’d be going next season’

He continued ‘For me, this move is about growth. Sometimes in life and in rugby, you feel when it’s time for a new environment, a fresh challenge, and a place where you can keep growing as a player and Pontypool feels right. I’m not coming here expecting anything to be handed to me. I’m stepping into a new jersey, and I know I have to earn the right to wear it. Respect isn’t given — it’s earned through hard work, commitment and what you do for the boys beside you. I’m here to put my head down, work hard, serve the team and become part of the Pontypool family. I’m excited for what’s ahead’
