Matt Bancroft is looking to build on the positive platform from the first four games when Carmarthen Quins come to town.
Pooler have made a solid start to life back in the Premiership with two victories and two defeats from the opening four fixtures.
Three of those games have been away from home and the squad have produced encouraging performances, even if the result hasn’t always gone Pontypool’s way.
Bancroft believes there are plenty of positives to take from the first month of the season, including last weekend’s defeat at Aberavon, and is looking forward to returning to Pontypool Park
“The first game at Newport was a tough loss,” explained Bancroft.
“The boys went out well and we played some good rugby.
“It was a good chance to express ourselves and it was a long time coming for the boys and we showed we can definitely hold our own in this league.
“It was good to get wins over Swansea and Aberavon.
“Coming off of a loss last week, the boys will be looking to bounce back and get a win at home.
“There are no two games the same.
“Quins are strong, they haven’t had the best of starts but we’ll just be focusing on us and try to block out what everyone else offers.
“There are plenty of positives we can take.
“We like to stay positive; we’ll be building on the positives and brush away the negatives.”
Bancroft has exclusively been fielded at full back so far this season but is capable of playing across the backs.
He expressed he is enjoying his rugby with the club and is happy to help the team wherever the coaches feel he is needed.
“I’m happy to play. Playing for Pontypool is a long time coming for me and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed being out there in the few games that I’ve had,” he said.
“I’m just looking to build each week on performances, that’s the positive thing about rugby you get a new chance to go every week.
“For me it’s about training hard and building on the positives from the week before.
“The majority of my game time has been at 15, I’m enjoying it there.
“It’s nice to take a step back and I’ve got good boys around me to support my playing style.
“I’m happy at 15 but also happy to drop in wherever I’m needed.”
