Lance Randall is preparing to take on Bridgend Ravens the same way he has prepared for any game this season – looking to play with no regrets.
The second row came into the squad at the back end of last season and has become a mainstay in the team this season, forming a strong partnership with Ashley Sweet.
Randall admitted that when Pontypool came calling earlier this year, it was the final piece of the jigsaw for him in his life at that moment and he is now looking to make every moment count.
“I’m starting to get on a bit now so every game I have I just try and give it my all,” he said.
“It’s paying off quite well although my body is a bit sore at times but I’m just playing every game with no regrets and I’m feeling very confident.
“We [Randall and Sweet] work very well together because I know what he is going to do.
“He’s very tricky to read but having played so many years with him, I have a good idea of what he’s going to do.
“I’ve just got to make sure I follow him and keep up with him because even though he’s older than me, he’s still faster than me.”
Having built up a considerable amount of Premiership experience Randall can recall plenty of tough battles with Bridgend but believes Pooler have the right ingredients in the team to overcome the challenges that away at the Dunraven Brewery Field.
“Bridgend are a very tricky team,” he continued.
“I’ve played them multiple times in the past and I’ve either lost to them or won very narrowly because they’ve got a very strong pack and that can strangle you during the game.
“As long as we stay out of that battle, fizz the ball wide and have a good set piece we should be okay.
“Talent is only half the battle.
“Everyone here is willing to accept criticism and take ownership.
“Some teams in the past have been dictatorships or people just don’t want to be accountable but there is not one person like that here and I believe that is the recipe for growing.”
