Pontypool are looking to add unpredictability to the attack, accordingly to back-row forward Mike Herbert.
Results have not gone Pooler’s way in recent fixtures with five losses from the last seven fixtures, compared to winning seven of their first eight league games on their return to the Indigo Premiership.
However, Herbert says the squad are looking to change that by adding variety and unpredictability to their play.
“We’ve probably got a bit too complacent,” admitted Herbert.
“We’ve been predictable with our moves but we’ve worked hard on expanding the variety of plays and bringing some new stuff in so hopefully we can mix-it up a bit better.
“We’ve worked on our fitness, skills and introducing variety in attack.
“The boys are excited and looking forward to getting the ball rolling again.
“We’re training hard and trying to put the wrongs right.”
Last week’s postponement means the players have had a break from action compared to Pontypridd, who fell to a narrow 15-13 at Bridgend Ravens.
That has given some members of the squad extra time to recover from recent hits and knocks they have received.
“It’s been a blessing for some of the boys as they are putting their bodies on the line week in week out,” explained Herbert, who featured for Pontypool United on the weekend.
“Other than that we’ve worked hard on analysis looking at areas we can exploit Pontypridd.
“We’re looking forward to the game to put on a good display.
“There is a good buzz in camp.
“It’s been ramped up because we live with certain standards and some of the games we have played haven’t been good enough so there is a real buzz to get back on track.”
Pooler’s last visit to Sardis Road came in pre-season, which ended in a 28-21 defeat.
However, they turned things around for the league encounter at Pontypool Park, claiming an impressive 41-30 victory.
