Pontypool RFC v TATA Steel RFC

Please note that a pitch inspection will be held at 10.30am on Saturday morning to determine whether the fixture will go ahead as scheduled. The club will make a further announcement on Saturday morning following the completion of the inspection.

Pontypool welcome Tata Steel to Pontypool Park on Saturday in the SWALEC Championship. This will be Pontypool’s first home game for five weeks, since they defeated Bridgend Athletic 31-7 on 24 October.

Pooler are in a rich vein of form at the moment with their unbeaten run stretching to 9 games, including seven consecutive victories which has taken them to third place in the league table. The Pontypool players showed some character last weekend when they fought back from 15-0 after 60 minutes to eventually overcome Glynneath 19-15 in atrocious conditions at Abernant Park.

11th placed Tata Steel secured a 38-15 home victory over Cardiff Met last time out. Last season, matches between our two clubs ended in victory to the home side – Pooler ran out narrow 36-34 victors at Pontypool Park in October while Tata Steel avenged that reverse with a 41-17 win at Margam in March.
