PONTYPOOL, South Wales, 11th September 2018 - Pontypool RFC is pleased to announce the permanent signing of Craig Price for the remainder of the club’s crucial 2018-2019 WRU National Championship campaign.

The 26-year-old prop originally joined the club on permit from Croesyceiliog RFC at the start of the 2017-2018 season, until a torn right bicep ruled Price out of the opening six months of the campaign. Price would later return in time to help Pooler record an unbeaten league season in April.

With Pooler targeting a third-straight WRU National Championship and an opportunity to earn promotion back to the Principality Premiership, Price is keen to build on the eight appearances he made last season.

"I will always be thankful for the role Croesyceiliog played in my career, but I feel like I have developed further as a player since joining Pontypool,” said Price.

"I have really enjoyed my time at the club so far, so to move here on a permanent basis is exactly what I was hoping for. The club is really ambitious and with promotion a possibility once again, standards are as high as ever.

"There is a lot of competition for places at the club this season, but that will only benefit the club as we look to enjoy another successful year.”

Pontypool RFC head coach Leighton Jones, a renowned front-rower during his playing days, is pleased to see Price join the club on a permanent basis.

On securing his signature, Jones said: "Craig was unlucky to sustain a long-term injury last season and it curtailed his playing time, however he returned to play a key role towards the end of the campaign.

"Along with Ollie Drake, we have two quality tight-head props at our disposal and they will both play a key role for us this season.

"At 26, Craig is still some years off his peak as a prop and I have no doubt that he will continue to develop with us over the coming seasons."
