PONTYPOOL, South Wales, 23rd January 2020 - Pontypool RFC is saddened to share that the club’s head coach, Leighton Jones, has been admitted to a local hospital after suddenly falling ill yesterday afternoon.

Leighton is currently in a stable condition and is expected to remain in hospital over the coming days.

Further updates will be provided at the appropriate time and it is kindly requested that Leighton’s privacy is respected during this time.

Pontypool RFC’s WRU Specsavers National Cup quarter-final tie versus Carmarthen Quins RFC will continue to be played on Saturday as scheduled and the team will be headed up by Tom Hancock (backs coach), Andrew Quick, (defence coach) and Rhys Dyer (head of performance) in Leighton’s absence.

The thoughts of everybody at Pontypool RFC are with Leighton and we are all looking forward to welcoming him back to Pontypool Park at the earliest opportunity.
