The final of the Year 8 Schools Cup bore all the hallmarks of what Pooler are renowned for - forward grunt which in this case created the platform for some highly entertaining rugby at Pontypool Park.
Winners of their respective groups; Croesyceiliog Comprehensive and West Monmouth Comprehensive matched one another in all aspects of a thrilling encounter with West Monmouth eventually getting over the line with a 24-19 victory.
Each and every player gave an outstanding performance ably led by their captains Mia Shottle (Croesyceiliog) and Jake Leighton (West Monmouth).
Danny Jones, of West Monmouth, picked up the MD Carpentry and Renovations Player of the Match award.

The Year 9 cup final will take place this Thursday at Pontypool Park with a 2.30pm kick off.
