2025/26 Squad Overview

Now we've unveiled the full squad Tom Hancock is able to give us his thoughts on the 25/26 Super Rygbi Cymru collective.

‘We’re really excited about the squad that’s been assembled for this season. We believe it has the right blend of experience & youth with the core of the boys being local.

The aims of SRC are multifaceted but we certainly believe that this squad will see us able to challenge for silverware whilst at the same time providing the best environment possible for every one of the boys to develop themselves.

Our link with the Dragons has been strong for a few years now and it was great to see Huw, Scarfey, DKG & Morgan make significant breakthroughs last term at Rodney Parade and all of them remain a key part of our group. These boys bought into the Pontypool ethos and were accepted by all the boys in the squad - We expect that to be exactly the same this year with the new group.

We struggled in certain key positions last season so a high priority for us was to ensure we built far greater depth moving into this season and with 39 contracted players signed up for pre-season we certainly feel we’ve addressed that. We'll be working with a number of other clubs to ensure that boys not selected for us do play, and regularly.

Our pre-season starts in early July and we will aim to build each week so we’re ready for our first SRC fixture on 13th September. From a fixture perspective I asked for a tough set of fixtures and that’s what we’ve got. You’ll see it has a similar feel from last season and we all saw how challenging those games were!

All in all the management group are really excited about the challenge ahead - We’re going to take a couple of weeks off now to recharge the batteries ready for training to start back on the first week in July’

9th August KO tbc - Three way with Talywain & Blaenavon (Talywain hosting)

16th August 1pm - Dings Crusaders (away)

23rd August 2.30pm - Birmingham Moseley (home)

30th August 3pm - Cinderford (away)
