New role for Yanto

Some of you will have seen Ieuan Jones recently announce his retirement from playing and what a career he’s had!

Yanto is a proper man of Gwent - The powerful back rower featured on 106 occasions for Pooler across 2 periods and he scored 29 tries. A proper club man, he played out of his favoured position throughout the 24/25 season, at second row.

His journey started at Deri mini & juniors before representing Ospreys, Dragons, Cross Keys, Bargoed, Newbridge, Newport & Pooler and also earned international honours at U18’s & U20’s for Wales.

However, the good news is that Yanto isn’t leaving us altogether and he’ll be taking over as Team Manager.

On his retirement and new role Yanto said ‘the club has been a big part of me since I joined and I’m now looking forward to seeing the club grow into next season and am relishing the new challenge. It’s very exciting to see the next crop of young players develop and I hope they can also fulfil their childhood dreams, exactly as I’ve done. They’re at the right club to do this with all the back room support team backing them all the way’

Thank you Yanto and we look forward to seeing you in your new role
