Rhodri Cole Departs

Unfortunately we can confirm that Rhodri Cole departs the club - Rhod has made a contribution way bigger than his 6 appearances suggest and he’s been the ultimate clubman since joining at the tail end of 2024/25 following an sos phone call which within 24 hours saw him make an outstanding debut in front of the TV cameras.

An early season injury may have prevented him returning to the jersey but his dedication to the squad remained outstanding throughout as he continually sought to work with and prepare his team mates in training whilst being a constant on the sidelines on match days.

On his departure Rhod says ‘Just want to say a massive thank you to everyone at Pontypool RFC for the support given to me during my time at the club. In particular a big thank you to Tom for that Wednesday night phone call asking me to ‘help out’ against Swansea. At a time where I’d fallen out of love with the game, the welcome I received gave me a fresh outlook and excitement to play again’

He continued ‘Unfortunately last season was a frustrating one for me and I wish I could have contributed more on the field and I’ve now decided to pursue a coaching opportunity. Again, thanks to all at the club for all the support I’ve been given throughout my injury. There is an exciting group of boys on board for next season and I’ve no doubt results will dramatically improve in 26/27. I look forward to visiting Pontypool Park again in the future’
