After Wednesday evening’s tough bonus-point 31-5 win at Skewen, Pontypool are on the road again on Saturday when they make the trip to Rhydyfelin for their penultimate game of the season in the WRU National Championship, kick-off 2.30pm. Rhydyfelin’s ground is behind Hawthorn Leisure Centre.
Pooler have won all 20 matches this season and have an impressive 98 league points out of 100. Rhydyfelin, however, have struggled somewhat in their first season in the Championship. They are currently in tenth position with 7 wins from 18 games played and have 37 league points.
In the first-ever meeting of the two clubs on the opening league Saturday of the season back in September, Pontypool won 27-0 at Pontypool Park but failed to get a try bonus point having scored 3 tries. The only other time Pooler missed out on a try bonus point was the 20-18 victory at Tata Steel in October when Storm Brian was the dominant factor.
