Pontypool begin the defence of their WRU National Championship crown on Saturday when they travel to the Rhondda Valley to take on newly promoted Ystrad Rhondda at Gelligaled Park.
Ystrad Rhondda defeated Brynmawr in both legs of last season's East play-off which earned them promotion to the Championship.
The two clubs have only previously played twice – both league games in the 2006-07 season. The first game, and first league game of the season was on 2 September 2006 when Pontypool gained a narrow 11-9 victory in a very close contest. The return match at Pontypool Park on 23 December 2006 when Pooler gained the double with a 21-5 win.
