Narberth RFC v Pontypool RFC

Pontypool RFC make the long trip west to face Narberth RFC tomorrow and there is one player who cannot wait for kick-off.

Jordan Williams will mark his return to action at the Lewis Lloyd Ground three years and four months after his last appearance in the Pooler jersey – a 29-18 victory over Beddau RFC in September 2018.

One of only two players to have amassed over 100 appearances for the club in the current squad – the other is Aaron Quick – Williams is eager to wear the famous colours again.

“It’s been a long time,” he confessed.

“A few injuries and COVID it’s been about two or three years now but I can’t wait to put the jersey on with the boys.”

“I am just excited to get out there with the boys, especially some of the boys that I haven’t played with for a while.

“I’ve been at this club a long time and I just can’t wait to put the jersey back on.”

While the 31-year-old is happy to be back in the thick of the action, he knows what to expect from the Otters and is aiming to show he still has what it takes.

“They are a physical bunch of boys but if we stick to the task then we can come away with a win,” added Williams, who made his Pooler debut in 2012.

“The boys are playing with confidence but if you don’t play well you don’t keep the jersey, it’s as simple as that.”

Williams is one of four changes from the team that saw off a determined Glamorgan Wanderers RFC last weekend.

Owain Leonard comes in at scrum half in place of Mike Hale while Pat Lewis will play on the wing with Kieran Meek filling the void at centre alongside Joel Mahoney.

Quick, who is yet to make an appearance this season, is named on the bench.
